Influence of Magnet on Helium Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet

2020
In this study, a coplanar dielectric barrier discharge (CDBD) device driven by a 30 kHz AC high voltage source was adopted to generate a helium atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ). The influence of a NdFeB magnetic ring on the behavior of APPJ has been experimentally investigated. Electrical and optical diagnostic methods were used to characterize the APPJ properties with and without the magnet. The results revealed that the configuration with a magnetic ring could change the state of DBD and enhance the propagation of the plasma jet under some circumstances. It can be anticipated that the combination of electric and magnetic fields may be an effective way to optimize the APPJ in practical applications.
