LP-3: Late-News Poster: New Blue Emitting Phosphor for Plasma Display Panels

A new blue-emitting phosphor, 1.29BaO•6Al2O3: Eu, for PDPs has been developed. Photoluminescence of this compound under VUV excitation shows efficient blue emission with color coordinates x=0.153, y=0.047. The deterioration caused by VUV irradiation is much less than that of BaMgAl10O17: Eu, which has conventionally been used as a blue phosphor for PDPs.
