R R Pictoris:an old nova show ing superhum ps and Q PO s

A B ST R A C T W e present tim e{resolved V{photom etry of the old nova RR Pic.Apart from the hum p{like variability,the light curves show the strong ickering and random vari- ation typicalforRR Pic.W e do notnd any convincing evidence forthe previously reported eclipse.Theextrapolated eclipsephasecoincideswith abroad m inim um ,but com paringtheoverallshapeofthelightcurvesuggeststhattheeclipseshould actually belocated aroundphase0.2.Theorbitalperiod which wederivefrom thesedataagrees wellwith the old one,any uncertainty istoo sm allto accountforthe possible phase shift.Apartfrom the3.48h period,which isusually interpreted astheorbitalone,we �nd an additionalperiod at P = 3:78h,which weinterpretasthe superhum p period ofthesystem ;thecorrespondingprecession period at1.79d isalsopresentin thedata.
