Consistent modeling for device control and simulation in large-scale heterogeneous systems

2016
With the development of worldwide large experimental facilities, like particle accelerators, confinement fusion equipments, and astronomical telescopes, both the type and the amount of devices or instruments have increased significantly, which contributes to a large-scale heterogeneous system. It is challenging our current control system, and requiring a more efficient pattern, in terms of both control system framework and control software development. In this paper, based on the hierarchical and distributed architecture of the control system in the largest high-power laser facility of China, we focus on the consistent modeling for device control and simulation. Based on the consistent model, heterogeneous devices are released as software services with consistent software interfaces, which exhibits a more convenient access to heterogeneous device control. Meanwhile, this model provides an alternative of device simulation, showing a big potential in the test and simulation of our control system.
