Rare Earth Co-doping for High Efficiency Resonantly Pumped Er-Fiber Lasers

Co-doping of Er with RE ions in silica fibers is used to reduce Er clustering. A single mode core pumped Er-La fiber with an Er ion concentration of 1.37×1025 ions/m3 exhibited a slope efficiency of 76%.
