Teardrop shaped breast surface change assessment via digital fringe projection

2017
Digital fringe projection method are emerging as evaluation tool of human forms in biomedical field due to its non-contact, non-invasive nature and provides whole field measurements. Nevertheless, its application for breast carcinoma detection is relatively minimal. Thus, in this work, a novel application of digital fringe projection for breast carcinoma detection is reported based on phase shift technique. The digital fringe projection rig was utilized to analyze the breast surface changes of teardrop shaped breast prosthesis due to the presence of 1 cm breast lump. Comparison was done between breast without lump and with lump. The initial results have confirmed that digital fringe projection is capable in detecting breast surface changes.
