Time-domain evidence for an excitonic insulator

Time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy with a high–harmonic- generation source is used to classify the potential excitonic insulator 1 T -TiSe 2 and the reference Peierls-Mott insulator 1 T -TaS 2 on the basis of the melting times of “spectroscopic order parameters”.
