Results of 16 PF and Canonical Correlation Analyses among Students in a Technical Secondary School of Wuhan

2003
Objectives To identify the personality traits of technical secondary school students and to research the correlations among personality factors. Methods The personality traits of 202 students were surveyed with Cattell's Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (l6PF).Results There were significant differences in six factors among students at different grades. There were significant differences in two factors between male and female students. The canonical correlation analysis showed that there were correlations between students' personality factors “mental health” and their relationship with schoolmates, and between tension during examinations and weariness of learning. Conclusions There were grade and gender differences in the personality traits of students. Mental health education should be focused on improving student-student relation, allaying tension during examinations and clearing up weariness of learning.
