Effect of Comproportionation on the Voltammetric Reduction of Methyl Viologen in Low Ionic Strength Solutions.

1992
Abstract : A variety of electrochemical methods are available for investigating homogeneous chemical reactions coupled to an initial electron-transfer step. Frequently, these methods are based on varying the mass-transfer rate(s) of reactant or intermediate(s) relative to the rate of chemical reaction. In a recent report, we proposed a new general method using microelectrodes, in low ionic strength solutions, that allows controlled variation of the mass transfer coefficients of charged reactants and intermediates through the influence of electric fields. This strategy was employed in a preliminary investigation of electron transfer reactions.
