Elevacao de petroleo em pocos com secoes horizontais

Horizontal well technology has been used with ever increasing interest throughout the world. However, it introduces major challenges in several Petroleum Engineering aspects. In this paper a review of the literature on Artificial Lift is offered. First, aspects involving lifting methods in general are discussed. Next, features related to the productivity of the formation and the multiphase flow are stressed and specific considerations concerning natural lift and each conventional artificial lift method are mentioned. Lastly, general recomendations are presentd emphasizing the importance of taking into account artificial lift aspects when planning horizontal wells.
