Design of Hibernia shuttle tanker M. T. Kometik. Discussion

The Hibernia oil field is located in 80 m of water offshore Newfoundland, Canada. This location offers many significant challenges including icebergs, sea ice, adverse wind and wave conditions, sub-freezing temperatures, open ocean loading, and environmental sensitivity. Produced crude oil wil be transported by tanker to a transshipment terminal in Newfoundland and to other offloading poers. This paper describes the 126,633 deadweight tonne double hull tanker M.T. KOMETIK which will lift and transport oil from this field.
