Development of Criteria for Estimating the Erosion Resistance of Aircraft Engine Parts from Composite Materials

2020
To assess the reliability of parts made of polymer composite materials when sand and dust enter the compressor during take-off and landing, a periodic measurement of the part thickness during aircraft parking is proposed. The criterion is based on checking the permissible level of static stresses and natural frequencies when the thickness of the composite part of the flow separator is decreased. To determine the critical thickness, a series of calculations of natural frequencies and mode shapes as well as maxima static displacements and stresses of the flow separator was performed.
