ACONITIC ACID: OLD COMPOUND, NEW USES

Summary Biodegradable polyester was synthesized from aconitic acid, glycerol and cinnamic acid. The resulting polymer could be cured to various degrees of crosslinking affording the ability to adjust the rate of degradation. The monomer stoichiometry can be adjusted to change the swelling characteristics of the polymer.
