A Mediator-Less Double Chambered Microbial Fuel Cell Using Sewerage Sludge With Output of Relatively Higher Voltage and Higher Efficiency

2017
Microbial fuel cell (MFC) has become a great alternative source for electricity generation along with waste water management. Due to low voltage and low power output, it is yet to be applied in commercial field. During last few decades, there have been numerous efforts to develop MFCs. Here, we report an MFC that has been calibrated by using available ingredients in local markets and using local sewerage sludge. The voltage differences are found to be comparatively higher and the efficiency of the cell also shows the potential of the sewerage sludge in this manner. We have connected five cells in series connection to test the current load and it gave out potential output by supplying current for illumination of an LED for 144 hours, as far as recorded, without any interval
