Next generation satellite networks based on SLA management

The next generation network (NGN) or all-IP network is an evolutionary development for operators, with the potential of affecting the operator's business model. SLA management will play a key role in provisioning value-added IP services over such networks. Every network node shall be dynamically configured so that sufficient resources are available to support the SLAs that have been contractually agreed between a customer and a service provider. The integration of satellite networks into the NGN infrastructure is essential for the viability of the satellite networks and it will enable new business models and services for broadband satellite industry are defined based on managed service level agreements in which the QoS is a key component.
