Mild hydrothermal synthesis and physical property of perovskite Sr doped LaCrO3

2013
Abstract Sr-doped LaCrO 3 (La 0.9 Sr 0.1 CrO 3 and La 0.8 Sr 0.2 CrO 3 ) were synthesized as cube-shaped crystalline phases under mild hydrothermal conditions. All the samples can be prepared in a single step by hydrothermal treatment at 260 °C. The crystalline products were characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, inductively coupled plasma and EDS. The crystals adopt perovskite-like structure (space group Pnma ) and have a narrow particle size distribution in the range of 1–2 μm. The content of the reactant KOH and reaction temperature play important roles in the formation of products. The temperature dependence of electrical conductivities of the samples, measured using a DC four-probe method, shows that the conductivities increase with Sr doping, and the behavior of each sample can be ascribed to the small polaron hopping conduction mechanism. All the compounds show an antiferromagnetic transition and relative lower Neel temperatures.
