Adsorption of Amino Acids on a Titania Surface

2021
The adsorption of aspartic and glutamic acids from aqueous solutions on a nanocrystalline titania surface is described as the formation of complexes of two types: outer-sphere electrostatic and inner-sphere covalent complexes. The constants of the stability of adsorption by the two types of complexes are calculated using experimental dependences of adsorption on the pH and ionic strength of solutions, in terms of basic Stern model of surface complexation.
