Mirror electrostatic suspension for interferometric detectors of gravitational waves

Abstract The possibility is evaluated of suspending the mirrors of interferometric detectors of gravitational waves, by means of electrostatic forces, with the purpose of reducing the pendulum thermal noise. An estimate of both damping mechanisms and pendulum frequency is also given.
