Taking the Long View: Peter Molan’s Articles in Bee World

Honey has been used as a medicine by man since the earliest times. Peter Molan was instrumental in researching and bringing to our attention why honey is important in healing. He identified that Manuka honey is somehow special with its seemingly unique “Manuka factor.” International recognition followed, and he was made an MBE (Member of the British Empire) in 1995 for services to the honey industry. Peter Molan wrote a number of articles for Bee World, which to this day are still highly cited. They cover how honey is effective as a medicine, the antibacterial properties of honey and the limitations of identifying the floral source of honey.
