Simulation of the Magnetic Field of a Bitter-like HTS Magnet

Applications of REBCO coated conductors for the generation of magnetic fields are increasing sharply. In this paper, an equivalent screen current model is proposed to calculate the entire field of a Bitter-like REBCO magnet. This kind of magnet is assembled by REBCO annular coated plates and insulators interactively and energized by flux-pump. In the model, the screen current in the plate is equivalent to the superposition of concentric ring circuits. The magnetic field distribution of this Bitter-like magnet is simulated and discussed. Their field effects on operating temperature, size and anisotropy are analyzed and discussed. This study aims at developing our understanding of the field distribution of this Bitter-like HTS magnet for future applications.
