Microwave PulseCompression usingHelically Corrugated Waveguides

Cylindrical waveguide witha helical corrugation ontheinner surface hasproven aneffective dispersive mediumforthecompression ofsmoothly frequency modulated microwave pulses. Thispaper presents theresults ofexperiments where-5.6kW, X-band (8. 0GHzto12.5GHz), microwave pulses of80nsduration and5%frequency modulation werecompressed into 1.5ns pulses with 25times higher peakpower.
