Research on library lighting intelligent control based on infrared image processing techniques

Abstract Library is an important public place to study and communicate knowledge and information to students and teachers in the university. However, the light energy of the library in the university is over-wasted at present in China because of personnel change. It is very important to control intelligently the lighting for energy saving. This paper puts forward one novel method to auto-control the lighting based on image processing technique. The system is set up based on infrared image from monitoring cameras in the library. After images preprocessed, images are segmented, and extracted, and analyzed, then confirm the number of stuff and distribution intensity in the library. To confirm walking persons, the three frame difference method is used to process the moving objects and obtain clear and exact objects image. The experimental results show the system can improve lights to save light power in library.
