Synthesis and Chemistry of 2-Phosphafurans

The reaction between (chlorophosphinidene)pentacarbonyltungsten and benzylideneacetophenone affords a [4 + 1] adduct whose dehydrochlorination by N-methylimidazole affords a 2-phosphafuran complex. Upon further reaction, the phosphafuran is displaced from its complex by an excess of the base.
