The invention relates to an electro-optic effect-based shell device of a non-contact type overvoltage sensor. The shell device includes an accommodating cabinet and a complete machine cabinet, wherein the accommodating cabinet is used for accommodating a capacitance voltage dividing unit and a photoelectric sensing unit; the capacitance voltage dividing unit leads voltage signals to the photoelectric sensing unit; an optical fiber in the photoelectric sensing unit is arranged in an optical fiber slot; the accommodating cabinet and the complete machine cabinet are both made of an electric conduction material; the capacitance voltage dividing unit is provide with an induction metal plate and a low-voltage arm capacitor; the induction metal plate is arranged in the opening of the accommodating cabinet; the accommodating cabinet is arranged in the complete machine box; and the complete machine box is provided with a box cover made of an insulator. According to the electro-optic effect-based shell device of the non-contact type overvoltage sensor, the accommodating cabinet and the complete machine cabinet can play a role of basic protection for the sensor, and therefore, shock can be absorbed, and the failure of a certain unit in the sensor due to the damage to the unit which is directly caused by external factors such as impact brought by an accident can be decreased to a great extent.
