Airports and productivity

2011
This paper analyses the productivity of 29 airports of the Asia-Pacific region on the basis of parameters and data five-year period of 2001-2005. The purpose of this paper is to put forth the need of primary research based analysis of the factors and parameters actually responsible for the productivity enhancement of airports at first through actually relooking towards the parameters themselves and then analysing them through partial as well as variable factor analysis techniques, subsequently, benchmarking the results along with highlighting the qualitative factors associated for the enhancement of the productivity of an airport to finally replicate the shaped up model. This paper has utilised data envelopment analysis as a primary tool to measure the airport performance on the basis of multiple outputs which airports produce and multiple inputs which they utilise. In particular, productivity of terminals, employees, runways and gates has been analysed.
