Análise do uso de anfetaminas por universitários de medicina em Sergipe

This article seeks to analyze the prevalence of amphetamine use by medical students in a private institution in the state of Sergipe. It is a cross-sectional, descriptive, exploratory and quantitative analytical approach. The sample obtained was from 281 medical students from the 1st to the 12th graduation semester. To assess these students, a specific questionnaire was applied and builded especially for this research with information about the frequency and the main factors of use of these psychoactive substances, their relationship with academic performance and possible associated psychiatric disorders. Of the students present in this sample, 13% reported having already used amphetamine at some point and that, 51.5% of these used it in the last 3 months to maintain attention and vigilance, with the majority reporting daily consumption (21,2%).The main reason for using was the need of improvements in performance academic (72,7%). Within the epidemiological profile, males and students with an average age of 24 years old were the most prevalent. It was concluded that the consumption of amphetamines had a high prevalence among a sample of undergraduate medical students. With this study, it becomes possible to highlight the theme and promote new studies on it.
