Stereoselective defluorinative carboxylation of gem-difluoroalkenes with carbon dioxide

We report an efficient Cu-catalyzed stereoselective C-F bond defluorinative carboxylation reaction of gem-difluoroalkenes with CO2 by using cheap and easily available CuI as catalyst, which enabled the synthesis of fluoroallyl carboxyl acid in high to excellent yields with perfect Z-selectivity.
