On the magnetic field of a current coil and its localization

2012
The magnetic coils are often used for tracking moving vehicles or robots, based on the magnetic coupling relation between the sensing coils relative to the transmitting (or source) current coils. Therefore, the accurate computation of the magnetic field distribution of a source current coil has significant effects on the computation results for the electromagnetic localization system. In this paper, the magnetic field distribution of a current coil is analyzed, and its difference with that of the magnetic dipole is compared. Based on this, a localization model is setup, and the simulations are also provided to show its application in electromagnetic localization system.
