Homogeneous electric field generation using biconical electrodes

1997
The system of two hollow biconical electrodes is observed. The electrodes are of absolutely equal and opposite potential values. The Equivalent electrodes method is used for the calculation of the potential and field of the observed system because of its great simplicity and accuracy. If the angular width of the biconical electrodes is /spl alpha/=arctg(/spl radic/(2/3)), then practically homogeneous electric field exists in the central system region. The obtained results show that the electric field homogeneity is practically independent on the ratio H/h, if H/spl ges/2h.
