The effect kind of nutrients on egg (Kroto) production and egg quality of Ants (Oecophylla smaragdina)

2019
Rangrang ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) are insects that produce Kroto used as bird food. The present study was conducted to determine the effect kind of nutrients on egg (Kroto) production and quality of ants (Oecophylla smaragdina). Sixteen colony of healthy Rangrang ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) were used in a completely randomized design experiment. Rangrang ants colonies were randomly divided into four treatment groups, namely: A: Rangrang ants fed with pork; B: ant given chicken eggs; C: ants given caterpillars; and D: ants given crickets, repectively. The results showed that cricket feeding gave the highest (P< 0.05) average yield of Kroto than the other treatments. While the quality of kroto in the treatment of pork contains the highest protein, fat, energy, phosphorus and calcium. It is concluded that cricket feeding has increased egg production, but pork feeding has the highest content of protein, fat, energy, phosphorus and calcium.
