In Vivo Genotoxicity Assays

2010
The assessment of a genotoxic potential of a drug candidate is typically determined through a series of tests conducted in vitro and in vivo. Genotoxicity assays provide a means to identify potential genotoxic carcinogens relatively early in the drug development process. This article provides an overview of the standard in vivo cytogenetic assays that are commonly used as part of the genotoxicity test intended for hazard identification. Keywords: in vivo genotoxicity assays; drug development; cytogenetic assays; carcinogens; hazard identification
