STYDY ON TEH SYNTHESIS OF POLYACRYLIC COPOLYMER MODIFING CORN STARCH

A copolymer was prepared by polymerizing hydrophobic monomers(methyl methacrylate and butyl acrylate) and hydrophilic monomers (acrylic acid and β hydroxyethyl methacrylate) in solution. Infrared absorption spectroscopy(IR) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) were used to identify the copolymer. Gel permeation chromatography(GPC) was used to investigate the changes of molecular weight of the copolymer. The starch modified by this copolymer could be used as filling LDPE, and could improve the properties of the LDPE film compared with the starch modified by one single poly acrylate.
