Ytterbium implanted lithium niobate ring resonators on insulator: Fabrication and Characterization

We investigate the fabrication of lithium niobate micro-ring resonators on insulator and characterize the optical properties of ytterbium ions implanted in LN thin-film. The photoluminescence lifetime of ytterbium ions and linewidth change of the cavity around the 918nm ytterbium absorption peak were measured at 4K.
