Recent evolutions of the protection granted to the French civil servants in the discharge of their official duties

The protection granted to the French civil servants in the discharge of their official duties by the administration has been reinforced recently. The scope of its beneficiaries has also been extended. This article presents a synthesis of these developments. It points at the shortcomings of the reform. The main being that public agents under private contract are still excluded from protection, whereas the guarantees granted aim primarily at protection of the public service; the running of which the public agents under private contract contribute alike.
