The invention relates to a mobile terminal and an antenna detection method, and belongs to the field of communication technologies. The mobile terminal comprises a coupler, a feedback loop, a processing unit, a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) computation loop and a duplex communication unit, wherein the coupler is respectively connected with the feedback loop and the VSWR computation loop; the feedback loop is respectively connected with the VSWR computation loop, the processing unit and the duplex communication unit; the VSWR computation loop is connected with the processing unit; and the duplex communication unit is respectively connected with the coupler and a terminal antenna. The coupler simultaneously feeds back transmitting power and echo power of the terminal antenna, and a VSWR value of the terminal antenna is computed by the VSWR computation loop according to the transmitting power and the echo power, and stored by the processing unit, furthermore, after the VSWR value is read, the terminal antenna can be detected according to the VSWR value only, so that the performance of the antenna can be predicted and whether a contact point is good or not can be detected, a special detection system does not need to be arranged independently when a handset is subject to a complete appliance detection in a production line, a complex test process of the production line is avoided, and the cost is saved.
