Effect of matrine on angiotensin II-induced proliferation and collagen synthesis in human fetal lung fibroblast cells

2010
Objective:To study the effect of matrine on angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ)-induced preliferation and collagen synthesis in human fetal lung fibroblast(HFL-I) cells, and the anti-fibrosis mechanism. Methods:Matrine at various concentrations treated HFL-I cells for 48 h in the absence or presence of Ang Ⅱ.Cell proliferation was determined by thiazolyl blue(MTT) reduction assay, and synthesis of collagen was observed by measuring the hydroxyproline concentration. Results:Matrine inhibited AngⅡ-induced HFL-I cell proliferation and collagen synthsis in a concentration-dependent manner(P0.01).Conclusion:Matrine inhibits Ang Ⅱ-induced fibrosis through inhibiting proliferation and collagen synthesis in HFL-I cells.
