Nanomaterials in Tissue Engineering

2019
Abstract Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary area of nanomedicine in which the biomaterials are used to replace or restore the structure and function of injured, damaged, or missing tissues following any injury or pathological process. This chapter shows a summary of different nanomaterial-based scaffolds, which are able to mimic the structure and the function of the natural extracellular matrix of different tissues. The most important applications of the nanomaterials in tissue engineering of soft (cardiac, neural, and vascularized), hard–soft (interfaces), and hard (bone, dental, and craniofacial) tissues are presented.
