A Bias-Reduced Method for TDOA Localization with Receiver Position Errors

2018
This paper proposes a bias-reduced version for the classic two-stage weighted least squares (TSWLS) algorithm using time difference of arrival (TDOA) in the presence of receiver position errors. The proposed method also has two stages. Through introducing an augmented matrix and imposes a quadratic constraint in weighted least squares (WLS) estimator, we construct a constrained optimization model. Subsequently Lagrange multiplier method is applied to obtain the stage-l solution. The stage-2 processing is the same as the original TWLS algorithm. Simulation results show the superiority of the proposed algorithm and demonstrate that the proposed method is effective in reducing the localization bias and can achieve the Cramer-Ran lower bound (CRLB) accuracy under the moderate noise levels.
