WDM for application in passive POF LAN networks

The paper describes investigation of transmission in LAN with the use of polymer optical fiber (POF) for WDM type transmission. Step index plastic optical fibre (SI-POF) and SI-POF couplers were used. The paper includes a comparison between transmission bandwidth of different wavelengths and possibilities of using the proposed WDM in LAN network. For the project needs, a new electronic circuit has been designed and built. WDM transmission was performed with green and blue laser diodes and red VCSEL lasers. The purpose of using visible light in passive LAN networks is to increase the capacity of the passive network.
