Migration and international labor migration in the Middle East and North Africa.

1983
This book intended for general distribution is a shortened version of the results and conclusions of a World Bank research project entitled International Labor Migration and Manpower in the Middle East and North Africa. The focus is on labor market trends in this region from 1975 to 1985 with emphasis on planning needs. The primary purpose of the study is to project migrant labor flows to and between the countries of the Middle East and North Africa up to 1985. Projections indicate the demand for manpower by broad occupational category as well as the supply of graduates available for each occupational group. The authors estimate that the oil-producing states of the region had imported 1.6 million migrants by 1975 and that the stock of immigrants will increase to 4.3 million by 1985.
