Funksysteme für Verbrauchszähler

2001
A large number of proposals and standards are concerned with radio systems and their use for communication with consumption meters such as those used for gas, water, heat and electricity, and also with heating-cost distributors. The approval of a new European every-man ISM radio band in the 868 to 870 MHz frequency range has given a renewed boost to this interest. The European CEN TC294 (Meter Communications) standardization committee has therefore entrusted a work-group (WG5) with the drafting of a European standard for such radio systems. This work has now been completed and the central elements of this draft standard are to be presented to a wider public in the form of this article. The European CENELEC TC205 (Home Automation) standardization committee is, in parallel, drafting for its fields of application a compatible standard, in order to permit the utilization of a standard with the greatest degree of commonality in all radio systems for the Measuring/Control/Regulation/Security/Convenience functions in the residential sector. A range of different communication methods, battery-saving variants and the appurtenant radio parameters for the new draft radio standard are presented and discussed.
