Muonic Atom Formation, Muon Transfer and Nuclear Fusion in a D2+3He Gas Mixture
1993
In the gas mixture D2+3He the probability of dµ-atom formation in the ground state was determined, W=0.535±0.017, and also the rate of molecular muon transfer \({{\lambda }_{{{d}^{3}}He}}\)=(1.24±0.05)·108s–1 and the upper limit of the nuclear fusion rate in the 3Heµd molecule, λ f < 7·107s−1, by means of registration of charged fusion products of dµd catalysis and muon capture in the ionization chamber. The experiment was done at the muon channel of PNPI at a gas pressure of 87 atm and an atomic concentration of 3He of 11%.
