A calibration and correction method for the measurement system based on four-quadrant detector

Abstract In the measurement system based on four-quadrant detector (4-QD), the non-uniform response and the noise interference can significantly reduce the accuracy of the system. In this paper, the angle measurement principle based on 4-QD is briefly introduced, after that the non-uniform characteristics and noise interference are modeled and simulated respectively. On this basis, a calibration method that can calibrate the noise and non-uniformity of the measurement system is designed, and the corresponding calculation formula is given. Finally, a calibration system is designed and built according to the new calibration method, and multigroup experiment are designed and carried out. From that, the correctness and practicability of the calibration method are verified by the experimental results: compared with the traditional calibration method, the accuracy of the system after calibration is improved by more than 50%, and the noise robustness is better.
