A Contrastive Study of Word Meaning in English and Chinese and its Translation Approaches

Translation consists in reproducing in the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the source language,firstly in terms of meaning and secondly in terms of style.It is not the process of exchanging one language to another,but it is the interacting of the two languages in mode of thinking and concept.By means of comparison between the English and Chinese language in composition and difference in words meaning,this paper analyses the cause of the divergence and provides some approaches in translation.
