A very modern memorial

2015
A solitary figure stands alone on platform 1 at London’s Paddington station. He’s the Unknown Soldier, a representative of the thousands of young men who died and were buried in unnamed graves during the First World War. In this poignant talk, given on Remembrance Day 2015, Kate Pullinger asks us to broaden our horizons on the shape that remembrance rituals can take, and reflects on the centenary of WW1 with a very modern memorial.
