Model of Employee Competence Configuration in SCM

2021
Modern supply chains require increasingly innovative solutions in organization, management and applied new technology. This includes the introduction of multimodal and intermodal transport as well as e-mobility, drones, etc. Support for modern logistics solutions requires diverse and dedicated employee competences, which must be constantly developed. The problem of competence configuration can be considered as an additional dimension of constrained resources necessary to implement a given supply chain. Competences have a slightly different character than other resources used in the supply chain. They can be replenished, have a high dynamics of variability (e.g. absences), a given employee may have many different competences, etc. The employee competence configuration model for a sample three-layer architecture supply chain (producer-customer-warehouse) has been proposed in the paper. Moreover, the solution to such a model may be independent of the way in which deliveries are implemented within the chain itself.
