Laser induced cell death stages investigation by Raman spectroscopy

2017
In this paper we perform results of laser induced apoptosis and necrosis stages study in live rats cancer cells. Induction of cell death was carried out at various conditions of laser power and time exposure. Stages of apoptosis were controlled by optical microscopy. During cell death process, Raman spectra of apoptotic and necrotic cells were registered at Centaur U HR science unit equipped with 532 diode laser. We focused on detection signal intensity level and Raman bands position as markers of cell death stages. Both single cancer cells and cells groups were investigated using Raman scattering spectroscopy. Applicability of noninvasive Raman spectroscopy was shown for identification of cell death stages.
