Spirituality, Family, Socialization and People (Soft) Skills Development for a VUCA World

2017
The purpose of the chapter is to analyze how economy and society benefit from the functioning of the families through the development of people skills (often described as ‘soft skills’) which are important factors for personal and social development. Sociological perspective shows well that the family is one of the basic spheres where the process of socialization takes place. It is necessary to notice that its results are important from the point of view of the single family and society at the same time. It means that organizations—including economic ones—are the receivers of the output of the social interactions between the members of the family. It leads to the assumption that the quality of socialization through determining individual personal abilities and skills influences management and competitive advantage of the companies. This in turn may contribute to the welfare of the society and families. The chapter explores the influence of spiritual (religious ) attitudes and engagement on marital situation and satisfaction which in turn strongly determine the effectiveness of socialization leading to development of employees’ skills to enhance Self-Reliance .
