Determination of Total Iridoid Glycosides in Gardenia jasminoides Ellis by Ultraviolet Spectrophotometry

Objective To determine the content of total iridoid glycosides in Gardenia jasminoides Ellis.Methods Ultraviolet spectrophotometry with the detective wavelength set at 238 nm was used.Results Geniposide was served as a referenc,the linear range of geniposide was 8.08~24.24 μg·ml-1(r=0.999 9) and its average recovery was 100.25%(RSD=2.83%).The average content of total iridoid glycosides was 56.5%.Conclusion This method is simple,rapid and accurate,and suitable for the quality control of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis.
