Tendência de suicídio na população idosa do Estado do Paraná, da região noroeste do Paraná e do Município de Maringá: uma análise crítica

Objective: To comparatively analyze the trend of suicide mortality among the elderly in the state of Parana, in the northwest region of the state and in Maringa. Methods: Ecological time series study. Suicide deaths were evaluated from 2009 to 2018. Data was collected from the Mortality Information System of the Informatics Department of the Unified Health System. Results: between 2009 and 2018 there were 1113 deaths by suicide in the state, 165 in the northwest and 23 in Maringa. Suicide mortality showed an increasing trend in the State in the 60-69 and 70-79 age groups and a constant trend in the 80 and over. In the northwest region the trend was increasing for the 60-69 and 70-79 age groups and decreasing for 80 years and over. In Maringa, the trend was decreasing in all age groups. Conclusion: There was no uniform pattern in elderly suicide trends among the regions studied.
